Valerie has worked in the arena of Social Services, specifically representing HIV Prevention and Services delivery as it relates to Transgender people for nearly two decades. She has worked with the federal government, health departments, universities, community groups, conferences, and community-based organizations around the country. Valerie cites issues of racism, sexism, and classism (among others) among the matters which may compound the experiences of trans folx across their lives.

The National Black Justice Coalition (NBJC) is a civil rights organization dedicated to the empowerment of Black lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and same gender loving (LGBTQ/SGL) people, including people living with HIV/AIDS.
