Broadus is a career trans civil rights activist and lawyer. He served as a Human Rights Commission and Vice Chair in the City of Columbia, Missouri. He was awarded the Trans Trailblazer Award by the LGBT Bar Association of Los Angeles and has been honored at the Gentlemans Ball. He has contributed work to the Equality Act, a bill that would legally implement civil rights protections around the TLGBQ community and is actively working on the military trans ban implemented by the Trump administration with partners from GLAD and the National Center for Lesbian Rights.

The National Black Justice Coalition (NBJC) is a civil rights organization dedicated to the empowerment of Black lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and same gender loving (LGBTQ/SGL) people, including people living with HIV/AIDS.
