Back to School

Happy Back to School Season! While this time should be one of excitement for students of the year of learning to come, for Black lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer+, and same-gender loving (LGBTQ+/SGL) students, it is a time of anxiety as they could be entering a school community that is not supportive or welcoming. This is due to a recent wave of anti-Black, anti-CRT, and anti-LGBTQ+/SGL bills introduced this year.

For concerned and caring adults, parents, and educators looking for more information on this subject, NBJC has created a Back to School Toolkit. This toolkit provides statistics on the harmful bills recently introduced and passed, their effect on our babies, and resources for students, parents, educators, and other caregivers.

The National Black Justice Coalition (NBJC) is a civil rights organization dedicated to the empowerment of Black lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and same gender loving (LGBTQ/SGL) people, including people living with HIV/AIDS.
