Celebrating Bayard Rustin and the 60th Anniversary of the March on Washington

NBJC commemorated Bayard Rustin—the openly gay, Black architect of the March on Washington— at the 60th Anniversary celebration with two ground-breaking speakers.

Hope Giselle was the first openly trans woman to present at an MOW commemoration. She was joined by Ollie Henry, the first openly non-binary speaker. Together, they shared a perspective that is often overlooked in the onward march for ALL of us to get free.

NBJC Executive Director, Dr. David J. Johns, shared his own perspective on Bayard and his history of leadership in the civil rights movement.

The National Black Justice Coalition (NBJC) is a civil rights organization dedicated to the empowerment of Black lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and same gender loving (LGBTQ/SGL) people, including people living with HIV/AIDS.
