NBJC announces partnership with Sephora for “We Belong” Campaign

On Thursday, August 15th Sephora announced the launch of the We Belong: Color Up Close campaign, recognizing their commitment to build a community where diversity is expected and all are welcomed.  The campaign also encourages more conversations on inclusion. To strive for sustained inclusion and diversity, the campaign commits to support immediate internal improvements to positively impact the industry at-large.

With the launch of We Belong: Color Up Close, Sephora will be donating $1 million in 2019 to organizations that fight for racial justice and equality across the country and create opportunities that empower underserved communities. As the nation’s leading civil rights organization working at the intersections of racial justice and LGBTQ/SGL equality, The National Black Justice Coalition (NBJC) is proud to announce our partnership with Sephora as an award recipient of the “We Belong” campaign.

“NBJC is extremely honored and grateful for the investment from Sephora and we are proud of the work we have been doing to increase cultural competence and to facilitate stigma-free, asset-based conversations about gender justice, diversity, and inclusion,” said David Johns, NBJC Executive Director. “With the support of Sephora, NBJC will build upon efforts to increase cultural competence and ensure Black LGBTQ and same gender loving students are safe, engaged, and supported in pK-12 schools as well as at Historically Black Colleges and Universities throughout the nation and accelerate related efforts with legacy civil rights organizations like the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.”

The National Black Justice Coalition (NBJC) is a civil rights organization dedicated to the empowerment of Black lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and same gender loving (LGBTQ/SGL) people, including people living with HIV/AIDS.
