Transgender Awareness Week: Black, Trans and Proud

In honor of Transgender Awareness Week, NBJC launched “Black, Trans & Proud,” a campaign promoting trans visibility and raising consciousness in the Black community.

Taking place Tuesday, November 13 through Tuesday, November 20, Transgender Awareness Week celebrates people who identify as transsexual, transgender, genderqueer, masculine-of-center, two-spirit, and other trans identities. Trailblazers like Kylar Braodus, Janet Mock, Kye Allums and more have submitted their photos and testimonials telling us why they're proud to be Black and trans. Check out their campaign ads, full testimonies and the submissions we've received on Twitter and Facebook.

The National Black Justice Coalition (NBJC) is a civil rights organization dedicated to the empowerment of Black lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and same gender loving (LGBTQ/SGL) people, including people living with HIV/AIDS.
