Democracy is NOT a Spectator Sport!

TO VOTE!

Today is finally election day in America! On this day, millions of Americans will go to the polls to exercise the most fundamental principle of our democratic process: the right to VOTE! At the National Black Justice Coalition (NBJC), we do not take for granted this paramount right that our ancestors dedicated and often gave their lives to in order for the voices of future generations to be heard.

In 2016, there continues to be a persistent attack on our rights to vote as Americans. In the aftermath of the Shelby County v. Holder Supreme Court decision that gutted the historic Voting Rights Act in 2013, states and cities across our nation have passed discriminatory voting laws that have made it harder to vote, especially for people of color, people with disabilities, students and other marginalized groups.

Today, in the spirit of unity and hope for a better tomorrow, Team NBJC implores all people to stand up to the attacks on voting rights in our nation. No matter how long the lines are or how much people may say your vote does not matter, please get out and vote today! #AllWeNeedIsYOU to VOTE!
