Remembering Pulse

On June 12th, we remember the lives lost at the Pulse Nightclub shooting in Orlando, Florida in 2016. 49 people were killed and 53 were injured at the gay nightclub and it is the second-deadliest mass shooting by a single gunman in U.S. history. We lost members of our community on this night, Latin night, five years ago. On this day, we remember those whose lives were stolen and recommit to ending the anti-LGBTQ+ violence. We also celebrate the 5 year anniversary of the first-ever White House Summit for Black LGBTQ+ youth, which was held during this time and served as a reminder of how important safe and supportive spaces remain for our community.

The National Black Justice Coalition (NBJC) is a civil rights organization dedicated to the empowerment of Black lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and same gender loving (LGBTQ/SGL) people, including people living with HIV/AIDS.
